Shivraj Singh Chouhan's era as chief minister of Madhya Pradesh has ended. Mohan Yadav has been announced as the new chief minister. Chouhan, who served the longest tenure as chief minister in the state, had said that he is not in contention for the top job. Shivraj Singh Chouhan played a key role in the party's victory with his government's welfare scheme Ladli Behna immensely popular among women of the state. However, other contenders to the CM's post maintained that it was Prime Minister Modi's popularity that contributed to the BJP's victory.
